Welcome to EVAN!

Welcome to the new home of East Valley Autism Network (EVAN)! We have needed to create our "own" space for a mighty long time--thank you to those of you that have let us hang out in cyberspace rent free. Establishing our own blog will give us a terrific opportunity to communicate with the autism community on a frequent (daily-yikes!) basis. There are so many exciting and, ahem, interesting events taking place locally and nationally in regards to our families, that we could not wait any longer to hold back our not-so-timid opinions. We welcome and encourage your thoughts and opinions on all topics autism--yes, even those politcally charged posts. Remember that the founders of EVAN (and to our knowledge, the members) want to create the best world possible for our loved ones on the spectrum. The "world" encompasses a whole lot of stuff--resources, services, therapies, biomedical treatments and issues, community events, support, conferences, education (YES-EDUCATION!!), legislation, and what is happening politically on a local and national level. We are a huge community, with a lot of power. Let us unite, and use that power responsibly to institute the changes and improvements we know absolutely must be made for our loved ones. Oh yeah,...don't lose your sense of humor in the process.

Melissa,
A much needed blogspot for EVAN. I am elated that it is online. Thanks to you, Katie and Holly for starting this group. It has, is and will continue to change lives of ASD kids in the valley.

Oh my goodness, I can't even begin to express how happy and emotional I am right at this minute..... How proud I am to know that I am part of the original moms who helped with this groups foundation! Who would have guessed that from the beginning when we met in a park to help each other with our struggles with ASD that we would come so far so quick. I'm proud to be able to help and pave the way for future families. Wow, EVAN's blog! I do know that some of us have moved on to bigger responsibilities with other organizations which is fantastic as well. But I will always be a committed EVAN member. Thanks to everyone who helped getting us on the web. YAHOO!!! Love ya, Becky

This is amazing. I have passed your information on to a friend of mine. I have a brother with Autism and her 3 year old daughter was just diagnosed. Having an amazing support group like yours to be involved in I think will really help her. Thanks so much for all you do.
Love,
Jenn
